PM Modi arrives at Raipur, Chattisgarh to inagurate a modern Steel Plant and several other development projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Chattisgarh’s capital Raipur today on 14th June for a one day visit to inaugurate the modernised and expanded Bhilai steel plant (BSP) of SAIL. The PM will also take part in programmes in Naya Raipur – the upcoming capital city of the state. He will also address a public meeting at Jayanti Stadium in Bhilai. The modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant includes installation of cutting-edge technologies for improvement in productivity, yield, quality, cost competitiveness, energy efficiency and environmental protection.

During his visit Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of IIT Bhilai which is one of the six new IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Indian Government. He will also unveil a plaque to mark the commencement of phase-2 of BharatNet, a project envisions to connecting Gram Panchayats with underground optical fibre network. Before arriving in Bhilai, the PM visited Naya Raipur Smart City, where he inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre for the city.

After reaching the state he will proceed to Naya Raipur by road and dedicate the upcoming capital city’s Integrated Command and Control Centre through which water supply, power supply, sanitation, traffic movement, integrated building management, city connectivity, internet infrastructure (data centre) and monitoring of complete Naya Raipur will be carried out. The PM will also inaugurate air services between Jagdalpur and Raipur and later he will be distributing laptops under the Suchna Kranti Yojana scheme to five students apart from distribution of citations, cheques and materials to select beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana, Standup and Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Scheme, Mukhya Mantri Aabadi Patta Vitaran Yojana.

This visit marks the second visit of PM Modi in Chattisgarh in two months, his visit marks a significance for BJP which is the ruling party of the state as they will be eyeing to retain power for the fourth consecutive term in the Assembly polls due by the end of the year in the state.
