Petrol pump operators strike; Pumps in Delhi to remain shut on October 22

After reducing the tax on oil prices from the Central Government, many states also reduced the rates of the VAT. But the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi did not reduce the VAT. With this, the people of Delhi are going to fill up the NCR situation in UP on the petrol pumps of Noida, Ghaziabad, Gururgram and other cities. Because there is a cheap price. With this, the petrol and diesel dealers of the National Capital dealers have recently suffered losses due to VAT reduction by the Central Government and many states, which is around 20 to 30 percent. Delhi Petrol Association (DPDA) said this on Wednesday. The DPDA has demanded a reduction in the VAT (Value Added Tax) on diesel and petrol from the Delhi government and announced the strike of petrol pump on October 22-23.

DPDA president Nishchal Singhania said, “In UP and Haryana, petrol is cheaper at Rs 2.59 and Rs 1.95 per liter, respectively, in comparison to Delhi, likewise, diesel is cheaper at Rs 2.02 and Rs 1.72 per liter,” the DPDA said. In Delhi, about 400 petrol pumps and CNG pumps connected to them will be closed from 6 am to 5 pm on October 23.

In a press conference here, the DPDA said that with a reduction in excise duty, petrol and diesel in neighboring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have become cheaper than Delhi, which is causing them revenue loss. The pollution level of Delhi is also increasing because people are going to the other state to refuel itself. Last year, the Central Government had cut excise duty of Rs 2.50 on petrol and diesel, after which various states had reduced the same VAT Of But Delhi did not cut VAT.

By expressing surprise over the proposed nationwide strike of petrol pumps, public oil marketing companies said that all their demands have been fulfilled. Marketing directors of the three public companies – Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum – jointly addressed the media and said that every demand has been fulfilled. Their commission has been increased three times in the last 11 months. It may be mentioned that United Petroleum Front has called for a nationwide strike on October 22-23.
