Nepal, over 1000 pilgrims, journeying to Kailash Mansarovar stranded due to bad weather

1,575 pilgrims who have been on their journey to Kailash-Mansarovar have become stranded in Nepal. Sushma Swaraj tweeted about the situation, writing, Indian pilgrims stranded in Nepal – There are about 525 pilgrims stranded in Simikot, 550 in Hilsa and another 500 in Tibet side. She also said that the Indian Embassy has deployed its representatives in  Nepalganj and Simikot to ensure that the pilgrims are tended, and there is no scarcity of food and places to stay while the weather weakens and they are evacuated from the sites. The Karnataka Government has confirmed that none of the pilgrims have been harmed in any way at the places.

As the weather is more severe, there are not many ways in which the pilgrims can be evacuated, but helicopters could be utilized for people who are in critical condition and in need for medical attention. However, there have been no reports of any incidents as yet. The photographs shared by the on the social media show that the people are being tended to, and have been taken to a safer place where they might not encounter bad weather conditions. And it is a relief to them until the authorities come to take them away to safety or the weather calms down.
