NEET, Tamil Nadu, candidates to travel to Kerala for the examinations, Kamal Hassan objects at Supreme Courts decision

The Supreme Court accepted CBSE’s plea to relocate the centres for NEET examination, however, this decision is not being welcomed by a majority of people. The resulting situation is going to force the students who live in Tamil Nadu, to travel to Kerala, for the examinations. The topic of contention is that not all students can just move to Kerala for the exams, and the time is too short to make arrangements for their lodgings and other faculties.  Actor Kamal Hassan objected to this decision, saying that the Supreme Court can’t expect the students to just travel to Kerala and Rajasthan, and its the government’s responsibility to make the examinations happen in the states only.

On April 27, the Madras High court had told the CBSE to take make it possible for the students to take the examinations in the state itself, without the trouble of traveling to another place. However, CBSE moved the Supreme Court, which agreed about the decision, but told the organizations that this must not repeat itself next year, because it causes a lot of trouble for many people.

Advocate P Guruswami claimed that such situation has also arisen in Maharashtra too, and the students were given the centres far away from their homes, and not close enough, which is difficult for some to manage. He also said that the CBSE slacked on trying to make the centers available for the students when there was time, and instead just filed a petition to the Supreme court.
