Naxals attack on Bihar railway station, abduct employees

In Munger district of Bihar, the Maoists attacked the Masudan Railway Station in Jamalpur Junction late on Tuesday night. Also, they abducted the Assistant Station Master and one other railway staff. According to the information received, the attack took place late night at around 11.30. A group of heavily armed Naxals attacked the Bihar railway station and also vandal the government property. As Naxalites abducted the railway personnel and also triggered the signaling panel. After the incident, the movement of trains on Bhagalpur Junction Railway was interrupted. But the circulation panel was fixed after a while and the movement of the trains was resumed. Also, all travelers have been requested to select other options to travel as precautionary. It is the big challenge for the government as the Naxals threatened them and can attack again.

At the same time, the Assistant Station Master called the Malda DRM and told that the Maoists threatened that if the movement of the trains on the Masudan Railway track did not stop, they would kill the two abducted people.

A large number of police forces are being assembled at Jamalpur station now. Munger’s rail SP Shankar Jha confirmed the abduction of two Railway workers and said while talking to media that as soon as the news of the Naxalite attack came, the railway officials reached the spot. When asked about the abducted persons by Maoists, Jha said ASM Mukesh Kumar of Masudan Station and Porter Narender Mandal was abducted by them. But some sources said that the Maoists also abducted the driver, assistant driver and guard of the Jamalpur Passenger train. But this information is not yet confirmed officially.

However, Police and security forces were earlier asked to be alert before the attack in this Naxal affected area of Bihar. In such a situation, this attack points towards a big mistake from the police and the administration.
