Ma Brahmacharini is a second form of Ma durga. Second day of Navratri is for Ma Brahmacharini. Ma Brahmacharini prform hard Tapp as her name is Brahmacharini (Brahma- penance, and Charini – female devotee), she is also known as Tapaswani. Ma Brahmacharini is a unmarried form of Ma Parvati. People believe that, who do fast on second day of navrati for ma Brahmacharini, Ma increase their and their family members life. This year Second Navratra is on 22nd September.

Ma Brahmacharini wears white saree with orange border. She also wears rudraksh as an ornament in her hand. She had kamandal in her right hand. She is full of loyalty and knowledge.

Story behind Ma Brahmacharini or Second Navratra

As Ma Parvati (daughter of Himalaya) love Lord Shiva, so one day Narad Rishi came to Ma Parvati and advises her to do rigid Tapasya. Then Ma Parvati follows advice of Narad Rishi and did same, so that her name was famous as Brahmacharini. After many year of this rigid Tapasya lord Brahma addressed her and gave blessings that she will get Lord Shiva as a Husband.  So according to Hindu Mythology married women who to chant and fast of Ma Brahmacharini get healthy life for her and their family members. Also if unmarried women do chant and fast for send Navrtra get husband according to her wish.

Dadhana kara padmabhyama aksamala kamandalu,

Devi prasidatu mai brahmacarinyanuttama.
