Ma Kaalratri is the seventh form of Ma Navdurga. Devotees worship Ma Kaalratri on the seventh day of Navratri. Ma Kaalratri is also known as Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Chamunda, Chandi, Mrityu, Shubhankari, and Durga. It is believed that Ma Kaalratri destroys all demon, ghosts, spirits and negative energies. She also makes her devotees fearless. Ma Kaalratri means Kaal symbolizes the time and Ratri means night.
Ma Kaalratri has dark complexion loose hair and has four hands, carries cleaver, vajra and one hand is giving posture and one hand is in blessing posture. Ma wears black and red color dress. Ma Kaalratri has three eyes, emit fire and energy. Ma rides on a donkey. Ma Kaalratri saves her devotees from all problems and gives them calm life. Ma removes darkness from their devotee’s life.

Story of Ma Kaalratri or Seventh Navratri 2017

According to Hindu Mythology two demons named as Shumbha and Nishumbha. They ask Ma Durga to be their wife. Ma Durga refuse their offer, and then they became angry and ask Ma Durga to come in the battle for a fight with them. During this battle, Shumbh and Nishumbh order their warlord Raktbeej to kill Ma Durga. When Ma Durga tries to kill Raktbeej, his blood make more demons and Ma Durga Can’t able to kill him. So, Ma Durga created another goddess Ma Chandi or Ma Kaalratri, who drunk all blood of Raktbeej and killed him.

Ma Kaalratri is worshipped on the seventh day of Navratri of Ma Sapshati. Devotees offer jaggery as a Prashad for Ma Kaalratri.
