Sharad Navratri starts from last week of September 2017 it is the arrival of Hindus Festivals. Navratri means Nine nights in Sanskrit and it symbolises victory of positivity over negativity. There are four Navratri in a year – Chaitra Navratri, Sharad Navratri, Magha Gupta Navratri and Ashadha Gupta Navratri. Out of which Sharad and Chaitra Navratri is celebrated widely. During this nine-day festival, nine different incarnations of the Goddess is worshipped.
The nine goddess are Brahmacharini, Shailaputri, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Each goddess has her governing planet, mantra, mount, and iconography. Sharad Navratri which is also known as Maha Navratri is celebrated in the month of Ashwin during Sharad Ritu. In this, year the Navratri festival begins on September 21, The shubh mahurat starts on 21st September at 11:36:10 am in the morning where devotees can do Kalash Sthapana and culminates on September 29. Vijaya Dashmi will be celebrated on September 30 after the Navmi puja.

Navratri is celebrated in different parts of the country in different ways. But majorly in Maharashtra and Gujrat, it’s quite vibrant. and becomes the center of attraction for Tourists. Where people dress up in different colors especially women adorn themselves with nine different colors devoted to each day of Navratri. Each day is governed by one planet i.e. Navgraha and accordingly, the colors are assigned.
Navratri is celebrated in different ways across the country by observing fast on all 9 days followed by puja, singing and dancing on bhajans called Garbha in Gujrat and Maharashtra, chanting mantras of Goddess Durga. Its a time of Social gathering in the society.
