Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Singapore Prime Minister, Halimah Yacob today, as he visited the country as a part of his three days tour across three countries. He is going to deliver a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, becoming the first Indian leader to speak at the event. PM Modi arrived at the Business and Community Event at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre and delivered a speech, stating that Singapore was an essential partner for the country when India integrated itself with the business in East Asia. The two countries share a strong relationship, and there are no conflicts or contests between them.
PM Modi recieved a ceremonial welcome at Istana and was greeted by the Singaporean counterpart Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong. He also took part in delegation talks in Istana. He signed the guest book at the presidential palace.
Modi and Lee Hsien Loong are going to hold talks based on the defence and strategic cooperation between the two countries, along with focusing on the seabound security and the issue of navigating the Indo-Pacific seas. Singapore is the last country in Narendra Modi’s three country visit.
Narendra Modi and Lee Hsien Loong gave a joint press statement. Modi expressed his gratitude to Lee, and said that he has always made efforts to strengthen the bonds between the two countries. He and Loong reviewed the bilateral ties between the two countries. He talked about the growth of air traffic between the two countries, and the both will work on the agreement. He confessed that Singapore has always been a direct investment for India, and is one of the favorite tourist destination for the people.
