Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first phase of Delhi Meerut Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway. It is 135-km-long long and has been made on a budget of Rs. 11,000 crore rupees. It was constructed within the time frame of 17 months. Palwal, It is going to connect Gautam Budh Nagar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad with the Delhi-NCR regions, and is being lauded for reducing pollution and paving way for environmental preservation. Narendra Modi spoke at the inauguration of the expressway, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagpat. He began by saying that Make In India initiative has found support from people, and there has been a boom of factories that manufacture mobile phones, from 2 to 120 in four years.
He told that infrastructure doesn’t discriminate between caste, creed and religion of an individual. He said that those who worship one family, can’t ever worship democracy, and these seems like a jab on the Congress party. He then directed the jab at them, accusing them of mocking everything and anything that is being done for the welfare of the backward classes and tribals, always acting as obstacles in the way of development.
He then hopped to another subject, and told the audiences that the government is sensitive toward the issues of the sugar cane farmers and is working to resolve their problems. The expressway is going to be functional from today.
