Monsoon 2017: Advance of Southwest Monsoon 2017.

As per the Indian Meteorological department, The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Valsad, Nasik, Parbhani, Adilabad, Jagdalpur, Bhawanipatna, Chandbali, Digha, Kolkata, Krishnanagar and Darjeeling.

Also there are high chances for the conditions to become favourable for the further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathawada, some parts of Vidarbha, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, remaining parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar after 3 to 4 days.

Weather Warning for 15 June:

Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh; heavy rain very likely over Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkhim, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Konkan and Goa, Telangana and Coastal Karnataka.

Thunderstorm with Lightning very likely at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada.

Monsoon activity in last 24 hours:

Active Monsoon conditions were seen over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Odisha, Tripura, and West Assam. Normal Monsoon conditions were seen over Kerala and South Tamil Nadu. Subdued Monsoon rains were recorded over  Interior Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Pune recorded 50 mm of rain, followed by Machilipatnam 44 mm, Aurangabad 40 mm, Bhubaneswar 30 mm, Cuttack 34 mm, Honavar 39 mm, Panjim 22 mm, Mumbai 19 mm, Madurai 19 mm, Kodaikanal 18 mm, and Kochi 5 mm. With this, countrywide cumulative rainfall was surplus by 15%.

Monsoon Forecast for the next 24 hours:

Monsoon will remain active over many parts of Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya. All these places will record light to moderate rain with isolated heavy showers.

Normal Monsoon rains to the tune of light to moderate are likely over North Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
