In a selfless act, Lucknow NGO Founder body and eyes donated for greater good

Setting a selfless precedent for next generation, founder of well known NGO in Lucknow donated his body and organs.The founder of the Kalyanam Karoti Sanstha, social worker Vimal Kumar Sharma, died on Saturday at the age of 77. While his eyes were donated to illuminate two people, his body has been donated for the education of medical students. Rashtriya Gaurav Sharma, son of Vimal Kumar Sharma, said that Vimal Kumar Sharma had prostate cancer complaints and was admitted to Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where he died on Saturday. Vimal Kumar Sharma had committed to donate his body and organs in the year 2011, through formal registration process.

As per his wish, his body has been donated to the Anatomy Department of King George Medical University. Vimal Kumar Sharma was paid tribute by the Vice Chancellor of KGMU, Prof. MLB Bhatt, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. SN Sankhwar, Sankhwar, Prof. Arun Kumar Sharma of the Eye Disease Department and Dr. Garima Sehgal of the Anotomy Department. Rashtriya Gaurav told that his mother Anukampa Sharma died in 2006, his eyes were also donated.

Vimal was known to be a man of selfless service among locals who was committed towards eradication of blindness (partial / full) through Shri Deenbandhu Netra Chikitsalay in Ayodhya.¬†Shri Deenbandhu Netra Chikitsalay was also visited and appreciated by Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath. He was also instrumental in conducting various camps helping poor populous. After his departure, his son, Desh Gaurav Sharma, is speculated to spear head functioning of Kalayanam Karoti, Lucknow.
