The no-confidence motion against the government, which was pitched by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party, was not taken up by Lok Sabha, which was was adjourned for the day because of the protests by lawmakers. Mr Naidu, who left the NDA party last week, and his YSR Congress haveasked for a no-trust vote. Congress has given its support for the motion. Those who are in support of the motion include, The Congress, Left Front, Samajwadi Party, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and the AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi.
Shiv Sena has stated that they’d abstain if the motion comes to vote, as they’re not going to oppose either. The opposition doesn’t have enough support to make much significant impact, but if they continue the debate, they would likely get more chances to attack the government. “Its about teaching the government a lesson,” Renuka Choudhury from the Congress told the press as she stood with the TDP and congress to protest outside the parliament.
AIADMK, TDP and YSR Congress went down to the well of the house, and Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned Lok Sabha. AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi also repeated the same comment from Renuka Choudhary, that he was supporting the no-confidence vote because the Government needed to learn a lesson. The motion will need the support of 50 lawmakers if they want to vote, but Congress and TDP don’t have such support yet, so it can only be possible if they get support from other parties.
