Kejriwal Government to launch sports grants of Rs 3 lakh for school students

The Delhi government has prepared a policy to support the talent of sports in city schools by and said to provide financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh yearly and specialised training to talented students. The roadmap is prepared by the department of education and was presented On Monday to Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also to Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia at the event in Delhi Secretariat. The event was attended by sportspersons, coaches, experts, school students and officials. A committee of five eminent persons connected with sports will be going to pick sports talent for this programme.

The students, aged up to 14, will Select and get the direct financial support of Rs 2 lakh per annum, however, those above the age of 14, will get Rs 3 lakh, according to the policy. Bona fide for the last three years, school students of Delhi will cover under the policy giving by Delhi Government. Initially, for two years the financial support will be provided to each talent, after which continuance of the assistance will depend on the performance review of the selected students.

Apart from the financial grant, Delhi government new policy also includes the specialised assistance for the selected students like training and help in medical and insurance matters.
