Karwa Chauth 2017 timing : Rituals and Significance of Sargi Thali

Karwa Chauth with be celebrated on 8th October. Married women observe Nirjala fasting or Nirjala Vrat on Karwa Chauth for a long life of their husband. Sargi has the significant role in Karwa Chauth Vrat in which mother in law give thali full of traditional items including saree, bangles, bindi, and mehndi and food prepared by the mother-in-law and it also contains some sweet and fruits. Women eat these food items as Sargi in the early morning and then observe fast for the whole day. Also the traditional dress they get in Sargi Thali they have to wear for Karwa Chauth festival.

According to the Karwa Chauth rituals, women wake up early in the morning and eat some food and sweets before sunrises. These eatables women get from their mother in law as their blessings. It is believed that Karwa Chauth is incomplete without Sargi. Women on fasting must have to take Sargi early in the morning and then again they sleep for about one hour. They can eat the food of Sargi before the sun rises and then she can’t eat any food and can’t even drink water for the whole day. Women can open their fast in the night after watching moon by taking water with his husband’s hand.
