A college dropout attempted to rape his alleged girlfriend and filmed the video of heinous crime which was later posted on social media. The incident took place on the outskirts of Kanigiri town situated in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. The accused has been identified as Karthik and he is a college dropout, according to police sources. He allegedly befriended the victim a few months ago. Karthik, along with his two male friends, Sai and Pawan, took the victim to a picnic spot in Kanigiri town, which was approximately 60 kilometers from the district headquarters. The victim was also accompanied by a female friend to this recreation spot. This picnic was a planned conspiracy by the three male youngsters. The five of them, 3 males and 2 females, set out into the fields at the picnic spot and this is where the assault took place.
After wandering into the fields, Karthik caught hold of the victim and began to touch her inappropriately. As she tried to get away and oppose the molestation, Karthik’s friend Sai filmed the entire proceedings on his phone. In the video, the victim’s pleas to let her go can be clearly heard. She screamed to be released, but he continued with his assault. The other female friend also tried to implore the accused to let go of her friend, which fell on deaf ears.
This incident occurred almost a week ago, but came to be known by the police today, because the video, that was shot by the offender’s friends, came up on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook and has gone viral, since then. A complaint was then lodged by the parents of the victim with the local police authorities, who then nabbed the accused Karthik along with his two friends who were present at the location of the crime. According to reports, the female friend of the victim is also being questioned regarding the disturbing episode.
