J&K Police lodges FIR against two army officers

An FIR was lodged against two army officers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Friday for interfering with an accident investigation, police said.

Police said two passengers of a cab were killed and five others injured earlier on Friday in Chamalwas area on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramband when an army vehicle collided with it.

“When police tried to arrest the driver and seize the vehicle, commanding officer of 12 Rashtriya Rifles, Samrash Chatterji and Major Deepak reached the spot along with a number of soldiers and threatened the police officers on duty.

“They took the accused driver and his vehicle with them thereby interfering with the investigation,” police said, adding that an FIR under section 353 of the Ranbir Penal Code was lodged against the two officers for interfering with the investigation.
