Jai Ram Thakur takes oath as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
At Shimla, Jai Ram Thakur took oath in the historic Ridge Maidan as a Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He administered the oath by Governor Acharya Devvrat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with party chief Amit Shah, Union minister – Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, CM Yogi of Uttar Pradesh – Yogi Aditya Nath, Haryana Chief Minister – Manohar Lal are participating in the swearing-in event in Himachal Pradesh. Mahendra Singh, Kishan Kapoor, and Suresh Bhardwaj also took oath as cabinet ministers in the swearing-in ceremony. However, the Shimla urban MLA Suresh Bhardwaj took oath in Sanskrit. After that, woman legislator Sarveen Chaudhary took oath from Shahpur.
The Governor administered the oath to Dr. Ramlal Markedaya, along with reconciliation MLA Vipan Singh Parmar. Virendra Kanwar took an oath from Una Kutlahad. The ministers include former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nandda, former CM Shanta Kumar, state BJP in-charge Mangal Pandey, organization minister Pawan Rana, party chief Satpal Singh Satti, attend the oath event of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur. The names of the ministers were finalized at 11 o’clock in the night. All 44 MLAs of BJP are present in Shimla during the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier, in 2007, under the leadership of Dhumal, the BJP government had completed five years of tenure. Before that Shanta Kumar twice was the Chief Minister, but both of them had lost power within two and a half years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reaching Shimla to witness the historic moments of becoming the BJP government, reached the swearing-taking ceremony venue, from Anandel Maidan.
Jai Ram Thakur started his political career with student cell, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He has served as Vice President of Himachal Pradesh in 2003 and later in 2006 he become President of the state. He worked in several positions with BJP government including Chairman, General Development Committee & Education Committee, Vice-Chairman, State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd, and the head of Rural Planning Committee.
