Amid Vice President Hamid Ansari farewell, PM Modi hailed his experience as a career diplomat and his long tenure. He expressed his remarks on Hamid Ansari in the upper house (Rajya Sabha) on the farewell of Hamid Ansari as a chairman of Rajya Sabha and Vice President of India. In the speech at Hamid Ansari’s farewell PM Modi said that he got to know the real meaning of career diplomat after becoming Prime Minister. He said Mr Ansari came from a family that had been in public life for over 100 years with the long association with the Congress and an active participation in the Khilafat movement.
PM Modi also said to Ansari that now “you will be free to act, talk and work in the accordance with your political agenda and ideologies”. And said Ansari has been on diplomatic missions to leaning towards certain circles as he has been on diplomatic missions mostly in the West Asian countries. “In sabhi zimmedariyo ko nibhate hue aap ek prakar ke dayre me rahe jiski vajah se apki kuch bhavanayein rahi hongi, Kuch soch rahi hogi”.
On his last day in the Rajya Sabha Hamid Ansari begins his speech by an Urdu Couplet: “Mujpe Ilzam itne lagaaye gaye, begunahi ke andaaz jate rahe”. He said democracy is described by the protection of the minorities but at the same time minorities also have their own responsibilities. And he pointed out that there was a feeling of insecurity among the Muslims in the country. He said that “the incidents of lynching and ‘ghar wapsi’ and killings of rationalists as a “breakdown of Indian values all over the fact that Indianness of any citizen being questioned is the disturbing thought”.
Yesterday, outgoing Vice President Hamid Ansari chaired the House on the last day of his second term with his farewell speech and members along with PM Modi praised him by expressing their remarks upon Ansari that how he conducted the Rajya Sabha for a decade by upholding constitutional values.
