Govardhan Puja also known as Annakut or Annakoot, is a Hindu festival celebrated next day to Diwali. On Govardhan Pooja, devotees prepare the large variety of vegetarian food and offer to Lord Krishna. According to Hindu Mythology and Bhagavata Puran, Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hills to protect and give shelter to the villagers of Vrindavan from torrential Rain. Then they started worship Govardhan hills, Lord Indra became angry and started heavy and dangerous rain. So to protect their villagers from Indra’s anger, Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan hills.
