Gorakhpur bypoll 2018 highlights, SP-BSP Alliance wins Yogi’s land

Samajwadi Party candidate Praveen Nishad is leading by 4000 votes in Gorakhpur Assembly constituency. Gorakhpur, the home of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla was leading by 1,666 votes over his nearest SP rival Praveen Nishad, but after three hours Praveen Nishad started leading first time in this bypoll election. In Phulpur, SP Nagendra Patel is leading by 12,000 votes with his opposition candidate Kaushalendra Singh Patel. This is the first time in Gorakhpur when an SP candidate is leading in the home of Yogi Adityanath. Praveen Nishad is leading with 1523 votes, Ten nominees were in the fight from Gorakhpur, while 22 candidates contested from Phulpur. According to the Election Commission, there are total 19.61 lakh voters in Phulpur parliamentary constituency while 19.49 lakh voters are registered in Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency. Gorakhpur is an important seat for the BJP with Adityanath representing the seat in the Lok Sabha five times. Before him, his mentor Yogi Avaidyanath was MP from the seat.

2:25 PM IST- BJP is now lagging with 26000 votes, after completing 17 round of Counting.

The voter turnout was 47.45% in Gorakhpur and 37.39% in Phulpur on March 11. Gorakhpur is significant for the BJP as it is the bastion of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who represented the seat in the Lok Sabha five times.

2:00 PM IST- BJP Degrades the distance of votes which means, SP is now leading with only 14,564 votes.

1:50 PM IST- SP’s Praveen Kumar Nishad leading with 2,12,061 votes, BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla second with 1,92,860 votes after 14th round of counting in Gorakhpur bypoll

1:45 PM IST- SP’s Praveen Kumar Nishad leading with 1,63,941 votes, BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla second with 1,50,062 votes after 11th round of counting.

1;30 PM IST- SP’s Praveen Kumar Nishad leading with 1,33,565 votes, BJP’s Upendra Dutt Shukla second with 1,20,917 votes after ninth round of counting in Gorakhpur.

12;50 PM IST- Samajwadi party is leading by 10,598 votes in Gorakhpur.

12:36 PM IST- In Phulpur, SP Candidate is leading by 15,000 votes, after completing 11-rounds.

12:36 PM IST- Samajwadi Party Candidate Praveen Nishad is now leading by 7139 votes in Gorakhpur.

12:20 AM IST- Praveen Nishad is leading by 4000 votes after fifth round counting. Gorakhpur is a home of BJP and Yogi Adityanath Since 1989. Praveen Nishad is leading by 3700 votes.

12:18 AM IST- If BJP Would lost both the Loksabha Seats in UP, They will be on 71 while SP will lead on 7 seats and Congress on two.

Bihar Bypolls Elections–  Fifty-seven per cent polling was registered in Araria, Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer Ajay V Nayak said. In the Bhabua and Jehanabad Assembly constituencies in Bihar, where by-polls were also held, the voter turnout was 54.03 percent and 50.06 percent respectively, he said. Bihar by-polls 2018 for the Araria seat was necessitated by the death of RJD MP Mohd Taslimuddin.

12:10 AM IST- After eight rounds of counting, Samajwadi Party candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel leading with 99,557 votes while BJP candidate Kaushlendra Singh Patel is second with 87,326 votes after eight round of counting. SP candidate is ahead with 12,231 votes.

12:05 AM IST- Praveen Nishad is leading by 3000 votes after completing of fourth-round counting. This is the first time in Gorakhpur when the Samajwadi party is leading.
