A gangster involved in two murders in 2010 and in July 2017 has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

Police said Arun Kumar, 35, a resident of Jahangirpuri in east Delhi, was arrested from the Bhalswa flyover on the Outer Ring Road.

“Arun and his accomplice Virender had on July 1 gunned down Dinesh after a scuffle at a birthday party of gangster Bijender Yadav,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said.

Dinesh, listed as a bad character from Mahendra Park area in police files, was shot at as he left Yadav’s house after the party. He was admitted to the Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh but died during treatment.

A non-bailable warrant was issued on August 21 against the two absconding accused, the official added.

Arun admitted to the murder of Dinesh and Anju Ranjan in 2010 in Adarsh Nagar. He was absconding since then.

Arun, after coming in contact with Bijender Yadav, was involved in land grab and extortion. He murdered Ranjan at Yadav’s bidding, the officer said.
