Ma Maharauri is the eighth form of ma Navdurga. Ma Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri. It is believed that Ma Mahaguari has the power of Navdurga. The eighth Navratri is a very significant day in Navratri. Devotees who worship Ma Mahagauri on eighth Navratri gets relief from all the sufferings and gets happiness in their life. ‘Mahagauri’ means extremely white or fair, as Maha means ‘great’ and Gauri means ‘White’. The eighth day of Navratri of Ma Navdurga is also known as Durga Ashtami.

Ma Mahagauri has four arms having Trishul, Tambourine or Damru, one hand is one forgiving posture and one in on blessing posture. Ma wears while sari with golden border and rides on the white bull. Ma looks very calm and beautiful in this form.

Shubh Mahurat for Durga Ashtami

Durga Ashtami will be celebrated on 28th September 2017. According to astrologist Shubh Mahurat for pooja for Ma Mahagauri and Kanya Poojan will be started from 7:08 am.

Story for Ma Mahagauri or Eighth Navratri

According to Hindu Mythology, Shiva used his magic to turn Parvati’s skin black. Ma Parvati was teased, and Ma becomes frustrated because of teasing. Then Lord Brahma asks Ma Parvati to take bath in Mansarover River in Himalaya. When Ma Parvati took bath in Mansarover River her skin separated and took a form of a female and because of separation of black skin Mata Parvati got White color and named as ‘Ma Mahagauri’. Lord Brahma gave a name to that female, as Kaushiki because she born from the skin of Ma Parvati.  Ma Kaushiki attained the form of Ma Kali or Ma Chandi and killed demon Dhumralochana and Raktbeej. Chand and Munda were killed by Ma Chamunda, who took birth from Ma Chandi’s third eye. Shumbh and Nishumbh were killed by Ma Durga. Than Ma Kaushiki got Merged with Ma Parvarti and named as Ambika and Maheshwari.

Bhog or Prashad for Ma Mahagauri

Devotees who need child offer coconut as a Prashad to Ma Mahagauri to bless with a child. Ma Mahagauri is very prospered to her devotees and blessed them with their wishes.

श्वेते वृषे समारुढ़ा, श्वेताम्बरधरा शुचिः।

महागौरीं शुभं दद्यान्महादेवप्रमोदया।।
