This year Diwali falls on 19th October and 15th day of Hindu month of Kartik. People celebrate Diwali by decorating their house with lights, Rangoli and other decorative things. Rangoli is one of the significant things in Diwali festival.The word rangoli is derived from Sanskrit word rangavalli. Drawing rangoli in Diwali festival in the house is believed as auspicious. Rangoli art has a traditional importance in Hindu culture. rangoli is made on the floor by using different colored materials like rice, rice powder, colored sand, dia, and flowers. people usually make rangoli at the entrance of the house, balconies, courtyard, and temples of the house. people make rangoli to welcome goddess Lakshmi in their house and believe that Maa showers prosperity and wealth in their house.

Rangolis can be easily made by using colored rice and rice powder whereas flower rangolis are also very simple and elegant. various designs like the peacock, Ganesha, Krishna or any scenery can be easily made with the rice. Daisies, rose, and marigolds are usually used in making rangolis. Leaves are also can be use in making the designs and to give a more attractive look to rangoli.
