Dhanteras Puja Vidhi, importance, significance, date and time

Dhanteras to be observed on 17th October, Tuesday as the eve of Lord Dhanvantri which observed two days before Diwali. On this day Hindu devotees worshipped Lord Dhanvantri for money and health. It is a festival which also marks the prayers of Lord Kuber for wellness with a lot of love, happiness and excitement. As per the Hindu mythology the Lord Dhanvantri as born during the Samundar Manthan which appeared with Amrish Kalash and Ayurveda. And because of this reason, Lord Dhanvantri is popularly known as the father of medicines. Hindu believes that it is the auspicious day to buy gold and silver utensils on Dhanteras festival.

So, in India on Dhanteras everyone bought Gold and Silver utensils. It is always observed a two days before Diwali festival on the day of Triadshi, Krishna day of the Karthik month. And to buy metal on this day is also considered to be auspicious. This year the auspicious time to purchase utensils is from 7:19 pm to 8:17 pm.

Dhanteras Puja Vidhi

Devotees have to follow Dhanteras Puja Vidhi to bring wellness and health to their home as per the Hindu mythology. First of all, keep an idol of Goddess of the soil and the god of Lord Vishnavitri. Then perform Puja by pouring water on them from silver or copper utensils. And also with flowers and sweets. Then meditate or chants mantras of Lord Ganesha.
