A 50-year-old businessman was found murdered in his departmental store in south Delhi, police said on Friday.
Police said Sudhir Gupta of Gautam Nagar was found lying on the floor of his store with a head injury around 11.15 p.m. on Thursday by his son Shivam who went looking for him after he did not return home at his usual time in the evening.
Gupta was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said.
Police said evidence indicated a friendly entry at the crime spot and cash or other valuables were not found missing. Rather, a huge amount of money was found lying untouched in the store cash box, Biswal added.
Police have registered a case and are investigating various angles to the crime. “It could be a case of personal enmity,” the officer said.
