The national capital Delhi over weathered a Heavy rainfall due to seasonal monsoons on Thursday morning today with 25.8 mm rainfall till 8.30 a.m. Two notches below the season’s average recorded minimum temperature 25.2 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast light rains through out the day.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 35 degrees celsius. “It was drizzling here since early Thursday morning. City witnessed 25.8 mm rainfall till Thursday 8.30 a.m.,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department. Humidity at 8.30 am was 98 per cent. Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded 28 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius.

Today Delhi and regions like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad have recorded heavy rainfall in the early morning hours. This rainfall has brought that much-needed relief from humid and sultry weather conditions that were prevalent over the region. The Safdarjung observatory has received rainfall to the tune of 13 mm, while the Palam observatory has recorded 1 mm.

However, due to this heavy rainfall roads are waterlogged and have been inundated with which traffic came to a halt. Even most of the schools have declared off because of this rainy day. The reason for these rain and thundershowers can be attributed to a trough that is running from South Punjab to Bay of Bengal across Haryana, North Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Moreover, over Central Pakistan induced cyclonic circulation. Thus, with the combined effect of these weather features the national capital recorded a good amount of rainfall. Though from the last few days the weather of Delhi remained mainly dry with the traces of rainfall.
