Delhi Rains, roads blocked and heavy traffic due to downpour

Delhi and NCR region was battered with rains Thursday morning, causing water clogging on roads and streets as people found it increasingly difficult to reach their work places, as the torrent continued to pour down. The Safdarjung Observatory measured 4.6 mm rainfall till 8.30 AM, and the Palam Observatory measured rainfall of 9.3 mm. The MET department has predicted that the city and the surrounding regions are going to receive throughout the day, while the sky is going to remain cloudy. But, with heavy rains, there is always the danger of accidents, and a road caved in the Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad.

Delhi Traffic Police alerted the people that the SDM office Pushta Road, Raja Ram Kohli Marg from Geeta Colony to Pushta Road, Suraj Kund to Prahlad Pur & Mayur Vihar Ph-II Subway, Slip Road, were all clogged with traffic because of water overwhelming the roads.

However, people traveling by roads to their offices were the most affected because of high traffic, and some also expressed displeasure at the condition of roads that were submerged in water, and made it difficult to spot any holes or cracks. Monsoon rains usually affects the city adversely and it seems that since the infrastructure is now powerful enough it causes difficulties for citizens in such situations.
