Bharatmala mega national highway plan for 7 lakh crore approved by NDA government

NDA government announced the Bharatmala highway development plan which expands to approximately 83,000 Km on the roads. On Tuesday cabinet approved the Bharatmala development project with an investment of around seven crores. As per the reports, the National Democratic Alliance planning to complete this biggest ever highway development plan by 2022, the Bharatmala Highway would be the biggest ever highway of India. This highway plan aimed to push the Indian economy forward by generating more than 32 crore man per day across the country for the next five years. And it mainly focuses to improve the speed of traffic flow on the key corridors by providing uniform four-lane roads.

These corridors will be shorter and access controlled for the faster movement of the cargo vehicles. According to the ministries, the construction of the 10,000 km highways annually has a potential for generating four crore people per day and the mega-highway development programme that can be used to counter the allegations which government has failed to create employment opportunities.

As per the reports, India covers on an average 250-300 km daily as compare developed countries to 700-800 km. This new highway development programme of building roads and improving mobility to reduce the logistic cost. The government officials said better road network will transform India’s road sector through the smart tag based tolling. This project has already approved by the National Highway Authority and now the cabinet nod for the development of this biggest national highway project of India.
