Avani Chaturvedi becomes the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft solo

Avani Chaturvedi has become the first Indian women to fly a fighter aircraft solo. She flew a 30-minute solo sortie in a MiG-21 this morning. Along with Chaturvedi, two other female pilots named, Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh had to go through very exhausting training in order to become fighter pilots. In 2016, the Government had had opened  the fighter stream for women, but for an experimentation. The next batch of women for the fighter pilot training have already been selected. Avani hails from Deolond, which is situated near Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.

She has various hobbies like playing violin and painting. Avani has created history by accomplishing this task, and for this, she is being praised all over the social media, as people are calling this an important progress for women in the field of Army. RK Singh, the minister of State (IC) Power and New & Renewable Energy, wrote on twitter, congratulating Avani, “A historic moment for India, as Flying Officer hashtag Avani Chaturvedi becomes the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft, ‘MiG-21 Bison’ solo. You are an inspiration for the daughters of the nation.”

Piyush Goyal, the Minister of  Railways and Coal, Government of India, wrote, “Congratulations to Flying Officer hashtag Avani Chaturvedi on becoming the first Indian woman to fly a MiG-21 Bison aircraft solo. The whole country is proud of her for this amazing feat.”
