13 Digit mobile numbers to be launched in India from July 1, 2018

The department of Telecom has issued a notification that 13 digit mobile numbers will be launched in India by July 1, 2018. The last date to port the existing numbers to thirteen digit is December 31, 2018. The first company to start with this is BSNL. The existing numbers will be ported to thirteen digits from October 1, 2018. The operator has already started working on this. It is already decided that the thirteen digit M2M will be implemented from July 1, 2018. From July 1 all the mobile connection will be of 13 digits. As this will come into implementation, India will have the longest number in the world. China has 11 digit phone number.

This change will have no impact on the users. Infact this will increase the chances of the security of the country. Social Media is a vast stream and it is 100% true that this change will have no impact. Machine-to-Machine number is meant for machines, the ones connected to the internet. M2M or SIM-based IOT devices will be impacted by this. From July 1, the mobile phone number allotted will be of 13 digit. This change will not change anything. The mobile users should port the existing phone number. No harm will be provided to the person with the data in the Sim card.

Mobile phone users should change the number with the thirteen digit. Many Sim cards companies are already working over this decision. China will be the second country after India having the largest Mobile phone number. Apart from this, only French regions of Gaudeloupe, Martinique and Reunion have longer numbers. M2M sim is actually the technology which enables devices and sensors or things to communicate with each other and with other Internet-enabled devices and systems. This can be used in any mobile phones. This type of number will be quite difficult to remember but will be quite useful.
