Yash Raj Films and Karan Johar to come together for something ‘isspeshal’

Y-Films which is a division of Yash Raj Films is now collaborating with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for a quirky project which will be announced on 26 April but for now it is being called ‘isspeshal’. Y-Films make youth oriented slightly low budget films with in YRF while Karan is known for his big budget content films shining up on the celluloid. These two production houses have never collaborated together but their ideologies are similar considering Karan is producing Student of the Year 2 which is about as much youth entertainment as it gets in Indian cinema.

Karan is producing enormous number of films under his production house and massive ones all at once except that this one might not be a mega project considering Y-Films are not big on the production or star cast aspect of it instead content which is centered around the comic reality of youth. All their films are focused on the young brigade of the country but keeping it light and entertaining instead of the dark narrative which would show real problems. The advance poster of this project ha so much color in it that it looks like they are coming with a cartoon show instead of a film with humans or perhaps something centered on the festival of Holi.

Karan Johar started his film career as an assistant director in YRF’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge which came out as a classic in 1995 and is still running in cinemas especially Maratha Mandir Mumbai. Since than he has never worked with YRF but focused on building his own production house which is as big as YRF now. He has a very close association with Aditya Chopra as a friend for nearly his entire lifetime and now both these cinematic legends would be collaborating on a rather small project together.
