Welcome to New York movie review: Dumb and unfunny movie wastes it’s talented cast

Welcome to New York is one of the most ridiculous and out-dated movies of the decade. It would been very successful if it was released during the beginning of the century, but there’s nothing about the movie that even deserves to be released. Directed by Chakri Toleti, and starring acclaimed actors like Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Boman Irani and others, it is the kind of unfunny and idiotic mess that should be an embarrassment on the resumes’ of these good actors. Its witless and badly directed, with actors clearly straining to plumb some comedy from the cringe inducing dialogues they’ve been given.

The story is about Teji, played by Diljit and Jeenat Patel, played by Sonakshi Sihna, who meet on a flight to New York and meet all kind of strange and funny people along their ways. The movie is sloppily plotted, and makes little sense, not to mention that some of the effects are really pathetic and amature looking, so no idea why the makers decided to put the movie out in 3D as well when it looks so aesthetically bad.

The actors, as mentioned, are really committed and do their best to pull out some characterization from the cliches they have been saddled with, especially the leads, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani and Ritesh Deshmukh, but its useless against the dumb script. And Karan Johar is unforgivably bad in a double role. It will be wise to just skip this, and think that your favorite actors never did a movie like this.
