Vivegam storming box office collections in Chennai

Thala Ajith’s Vivegam has opened to mass success worldwide. With Vivegam fans celebrate Thala Ajith’s 25 years in the film industry. Thalapathy Vijay and A.R. Rahman also celebrate their silver jubilee in the world of films. Vivegam released in about 3200 screens worldwide, which is biggest ever for a Tamil release. Thala is called the king of opening and on the first day his film has broken the record of Rajnikanth starrer Kabali. Vivegam earned a staggering 1.21 crore on the box office in Chennai, which is a new landmark now. Kabali has earned 1.12 crore and and Vijay’s Theri did 1.05 crores only in Chennai on the opening day.

Vivegam is also the record breaking film in the U.S. by earning more than a crore, which is maximum for a Tamil release. In Hyderabad the film was on the 4th place on day 1 but on day 2 it is moving towards number 2 position. Vivegam has got mixed or bad reviews from the audience though no one questioned the presence of Thala. It is the second half of the film which is staggeringly dull, when it should have picked up like an Apache as the first half had set up more than 3 different plot points.

Trade was expecting Vivegam to gross 500 crores worldwide but because of the mixed reports, this might not be the case. Next big Tamil film is Mersal, hence Vivegam has about 2 months to stay in the cinema theaters with small releases. Film is expected to gross about 30 crores worldwide on day 1 beating the record of 26 crores set by Kabali.
