Tamil film industry is starting a strike from the mid March to an unknown duration of time and as the result of which no film will be released, shot till the strike is called off. It went up to a level that anyone related to the industry will not work and not even post production or events related to the films will take place. Absolutely no films will be released as the theaters are shutting down and audience won’t be able to watch the existing ones already running in the cinemas as well.
Many producers are waiting in the Que to release their film but the wait is far more elaborated as the month of April is quite crowded already considering that the strike gets sorted by the end of March. Unity has been one of the key factors of Tamil film industry which is why the productions of major films like Viswasam starring Thala Ajith is currently stopped despite of the fact that film has targeted a release date of Diwali 2018. Ajith is one of the biggest star in Tamil cinema and even he is participating in the charade instead of building a set somewhere else in the country and continue shooting with a different crew.
Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘Thalapathy 62’ directed by AR Murugadoss is also shelved which was again targeting Diwali as a worldwide release. Thalapathy 62 has concluded a good chunk of it’s shoot already which is why they might be able to control the production on time to meet the release schedule but Suriya starrer NGK has only started the principal photography with an announced Diwali release date and the crew is currently waiting for the strike to go off. The industry will bear a big loss depending on the duration of the strike because each day it earns crores of rupees and all that is down to zero from 16 March.
