Vijay’s next Thalapathy62 kicks off shoot

Thalapathy Vijay’s next film with his long time director collaborator AR Murugadoss tentatively titled Thalapathy62 has begun shooting today for a 2 day schedule that would officially kick off the production of this film. Vijay’s last film Mersal was the biggest Tamil blockbuster of 2017 and is also sweeping the award shows. It’s in the air supply that Thalapathy62 could actually be Thuppakki 2. Vijay and Murugadoss made Thuppakki in 2012 and the film was a mega hit since than Thuppakki 2 was an anticipation though makers have not confirmed the details of the project.

Musical maestro AR Rahman is coming back to compose the music as he did in Mersal and his song Aalaporaan Thamizhan became the Tamil anthem of the year. According to the reports Rahman has already composed one song of the film and Vijay might sing a song or two in the album. Vijay and Murugadoss have made two films in the past Kaththi and Thuppakki and both were super hits though Murugadoss has experienced back to back failure in his past two films. His Hindi venture Akira starring Sonakshi Sinha and Anurag Kashyap failed miserably on the box office and got negative reviews from the critics.

His biggest film to date was Spyder starring Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role and film tanked on the day of release. It was a mega project, second biggest film from Telugu cinema after Baahubali and Mahesh Babu’s first bilingual shot both in Tamil and Telugu. Spyder did not get the kind of reaction it needed to and that got Murugadoss down despite of this Vijay signed the film with him which suggests that his script must have been irresistible as Vijay does not green lights a project till he has a bound script. Thalapathy62 might release during Diwali as such was the case with Mersal and the date worked wonders.
