Shammi, also known as Nargis Rabadi, died on 6 March 2018, at the age of 89. She was considered one of the best supporting actress’ in Bollywood, whose work in comedies was especially noted by many film goers during the classic era of 1950s to 1960s. She appeared in many goofy, an comedic roles, establishing herself as one of the rare actors who did comedy perfectly, while also creating their own characters. Shammi starred in classic movies like Dil Apna aur preet parai, in which she worked with Raaj Kumar, and Meena Kumari, Half Ticket with Madhubala and Kishore Kumar, Cooli N0. 1, Hum Saath Saath Haia and many popular Hindi movies.
The actress made her final appearance in Shireen Farhad ki nikal padi, in 2013, in which she acted alongside Farah Khan and Boman Irani. Her loss is another shock for the Bollywood industry, and a reminder that there have been so many great actress’ who were under appreciated while they were alive. The industry mourned the loss of the acting legend and shared their own working experiences with her on movies.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote his respects for the actress, stating his prayers and remembrances for her. He also shared some early pictures of her movies. Anil Kapoor also wrote about her, calling her a great actress while also giving his condolences to her loved ones.
