Veere Di Wedding movie review: Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer rams the chart of ‘not so chick flick’

Makers left no stone unturned to promote the fact that this is a chick flick and as they say generosity has direct co-relation with guilt. It is because this film is such a chick flick that they felt an obligation to say otherwise. Sonam Kapoor has been wanting to get this project made for a very long time but she could not find the budget to pull it of though she did not do much with it anyways. This film is highly decorated with rap songs and dance numbers as they are a force to be reckon with in content driven cinema.

Plot of the film orbits around four ladies with very specific characteristics that are designed to show different aspects of how rebellious a human being can be. There is a tat bit of frustration being poured out of all the four characters by the writer s as it seems that he was not accepted by the society. Conflict in the story arises when Kareena Kapoor’s character decides to say yes to a marriage which she absolutely did not want to. It would not take a team of forensic experts to drill out the fact that very fabric of the film goes against the true nature of spirit being depicted.

Narrative of the film is very loose mount and allows the desperate space for highly unnecessary songs to come in and ruin the adventure. It seems as the film was written only till the seventy percent of its original length because post that screenplay is just waiting for the climax. Performances of Sonam, Kareena and Swara Bhaskar had very little to do with actual life because they were too busy hamming the reality. Director had to make a music video out of the screenplay which is sad enough already. Overall audience would not indulge with this film unless rate of unemployment is too hard.
