Toronto International Film Festival To Premier Hansal Mehta’s Omerta starring Rajkumar Rao

With the dates of Toronto International Film Festival coming close, the films are also been selected for the World premiere. This time three movies have been selected for the premiere. Number one which has got a lot of buzz in the industry is Hansal Mehta’s Omerta, which is starring perennial Rajkumar Rao.

The film, Omerta took the inspiration from the life of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was a British born terrorist, who later was involved in many cases like the kidnapping of three Delhi tourists back in 1994. And also the execution of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal correspondent from Pakistan in 2002. The two other film which will also be showcased the Toronto International Film Festival(TIFF) is Mukkabaaz, a boxing drama by Anurag Kashyap and The Hungry by Bornila Chatterjee which is the adoption of William Shakespeare’s play. The festival will run from 7th September 2017- 17th September 2017.

The Toronto International Film Festival often displays how the Hollywood awards are brought in shape. This time it’s the same as the previous ones. There will be a showcase of 45 films and 12 have been directed by the women, which brings the attention of the festival’s artistic director, Cameron Bailey to New York times saying our film industry is now keen to acknowledge the women, who were seen behind the camera doing writing and producing. The festival will be opened by Lady Bird, marking the directorial debut of Greta Gerwig and closes with Amr Salama’s Sheikh Jackson.
