Toilet ek prem katha movie review and story : Akshay Kumar sets a new benchmark with his social issue driven yet entertaining film

Toilet Ek Prem Katha is Akshay Kumar’s latest film about a social issue and does very well in raising the topic. Toilet review is based on Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is the story of Keshav (Akshay Kumar), who is a young man falls in love with Jaya (Bhumi Padnekar) and gets married. The very next day of marriage Jaya realises that Keshav’s home does not have a toilet in it and women go to open fields to defecate. Jaya does not agree with that and leaves the house since Keshav’s parents does not agree to put a toilet in the house. Later Keshav realises his love for Jaya and against the will of villagers he decides to put toilets in the whole village.

Story of the film is completely novel toes not borrow anything from any fictional story ever told. Despite of being based on a social issue of rural India, film is extremely entertaining and hits hard on the point when it should. Akshay Kumar as always manages to combine comedy and drama in a single performance. Bhumi Padnekar, who was widely appreciated for her first film Dum Laga ke Haisha stands toe to toe with Kumar who is doing his 90th something film. Other supporting cast includes Anupam Kher, Sana Khan and many others did a wonderful job in creating and adapting to the right atmosphere of the film.

Shree Narayan Singh’s direction was apt for the film as he manages to make a fast pace film with deep moments with in the classic narration of a Hindi film with about 120 scenes. Editing has been very helpful and creating the story and also enhancing the depth of story with the help of right music for the film. On the whole Toilet Ek Prem Katha is a must watch to realize that open defecation is a very big issue being faced by half the country.
