Thamizh Padam 2.0 movie review: Schizophrenia about this parody of a parody film is outlandish

Thamizh Padam was released in 2010 and parodied how a commercial mainstream masala routine Tamil blockbuster action movie is prepared. One needs to walk a very thin line with parody and it should not become the imitation of something which is already being criticized. An analogy could be made with Deadpool as it does parody the cliche superhero things but also does it himself and makes  that look cooler than ever. Makers of this film lack the intelligence in their script hence they almost end up doing the same thing as shown in the movies they are trying to parody.

Sequel is named ‘Thamizah Padam 2.0 to get a laugh around the name of Shankar’s upcoming anticipated venture that goes by the name of ‘2.0’. They are so many people who have made careers out of copying Rajinikanth and they are doing the same thing under the disguise of parody. A parody needs to funny based upon the comic analysis of cliche stuffs but they show the scenes as how really they were shown in source material films so how are they different. Those people should have thought of bringing in some fine technical line into play of the script as they set with a bunch of dvd’s to copy the scenes.

It is quite smart of them to make a routine masala film which would run on the box office but throw in the little punches of it being ridiculous as well. Performances are highly stereotypical because the script does not experiment at all with how interesting it could have been so actors also behave in the regular mass avatar of certain action image. Cinematography of the film was excellent as many shots truly captured the parody genre without even having dialogues in it. Overall one should have something else to do on a weekend but to watch this film.
