Sridevi was born in 1963 and her career as a child artist started at the tender age of 6 when she played a part in a Tamil film called ‘Thunaivan;, which was released in 1969 to massive appreciation. She was simultaneously working in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industry at such a young age and most of the big directors wanted to sign her because she was an intelligent child actor, which set her apart from the league. She did innumerable films as a child artist averaging 6 films a year continuously till she grew up and became a leading lady.

Her first Hindi film was in 1978 by the name of Solva Sawan with Amol Palekar which did not do too well on the box office and in 1983 she appeared in a massive blockbuster by the name of ‘Himmatwala’ with Jeetendra as a leading man. In the same year she made a cult classic with Kamal Haasan by the name of Sadma and went on to win very many accolades. Post that year her career was very much settled in Hindi films and in 1986 she did a film called ‘Nagina’, which ended up being a phenomenal blockbuster.

In 1987 she made one of the most memorable film of her career by the name of Mr. India with Anil Kapoor and it has a classic aura till now. She maybe remembered the most to her fans for her performance in and as ‘Chandni’ in 1989 with Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. In that phase she was at the peak of her career and was considered as the biggest female superstar the country has seen till that point and suddenly in 1997, she stopped being in films to raise her child properly. Later in 2012 she came back to films with a phenomenal performance in ‘English Vinglish’ and her last film will now be ‘Mom’ that was released in 2017. She will be seen for the last time in Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Zero’ in a cameo performance on Christmas 2018.
