Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety movie review: Kartik Aaryan provides a few chuckles in an otherwise lifeless comedy

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is directed by Luv Ranjan, who has previously collaborated with Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Akaash Vani and Pyaar Ka Punchama 2. All of them collaborations have been really successful and they have managed to get a few laughs on the faces of the audience in a somewhat engaging film but the same formula of modern day relationship’s exaggerated version can only be stretched so far. Plot of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety talks about breaking of bromance because of the incoming romance.

In this Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh’s characters have an amazing bromance going on as they live together but Sunny falls in love with the character of Nushrat and now they want to get married which means Kartik will be kicked out of the home and bromance will die. In order to stop the marriage Kartik would go to almost any lengths in trying to persuade his friend against the lady while she will be doing the same thing except to make sure that romance blossoms in their lives and they get married as soon as possible.

The plot itself is quite bizarre and in the shadow of showcasing real life urban relationships, all it does is presents the exaggerated unrealistic version which makes the entire film look like a gag. This is nothing but David Dhawan formula of comedy that worked in 90’s mostly with two wives concept and Luv Ranjan has only put it into a new fancy bottle with auto tune songs that apparently connects to the youth. These films have certain fan following but it will stay limited and they will never achieve a cult cinematic status despite of however many collaborations because their vision and narrative towards a story is extremely limited. Overall this film is a one time watch at best but not for everyone.
