Shree devi passed away at the age of 54 in Dubai, where she had gone for the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. In the hotel she suffered a cardiac arrest which ended up taking her life. She was pronounced dead on arrival in Rashid hospital where she was immediately taken but could not be saved. Incident happened on the night of 24 February and by morning the entire world knew of her being no more in the world. The procedure is being done as to how quickly her mortal remains could enter Mumbai.

Anil Ambani has given Reliance transportation’s private 13 seater jet to take her from Dubai to Mumbai. Plane reached Dubai on the afternoon of 25 February but according to the procedure her body can not be relieved off the morgue till autopsy is completely done. Most of her family is still in Dubai and rest have gathered in Anil Kapoor’s house in Mumbai. Shree devi was accompanied by her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi. Her eldest Jhanvi did not make it to the wedding in the first place because she was shooting for her debut film Dhadak which is produced by her mentor Karan Johar.

Entire country is waiting for her arrival in Mumbai so her last rites could be performed. A funeral meet is organised at the boat club in Mumbai on 27 February where many of film stars who are close friends of her and family would gather to remember the iconic legend. Shree devi had no history of any major illness especially the one related to heart though she still collapsed entirely in one single cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is mostly not survived entirely by people hence they either die or get heavily paralyzed. Her last film was ‘Mom’ in 2017 and her last screen appearance in a cameo role would be in Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Zero’.
