Shahrukh Khan took to twitter to announce the title of his next film and oddly enough it is called “Zero”. Shahrukh Khan is playing the role of a dwarf in this film and the reports say that he has a double role in the film with another being a regular sized man. Film stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif with Khan and it is directed by Tanu Weds Manu fame director Anand L.Rai. Shahrukh has mentioned it during the promotions of Jab Harry met Sejal that this is a very vfx heavy film and red chillies entertainment is seriously going to push the technological boundary with this one.
Shooting of Zero is still on going and makers took the new year to announce this mega project. Undoubtedly it looks a very unique effort from the minds backing this film as Khan has never played a dwarf in his entire career and Anand L.Rai’s films be it Tanu Weds Manu Returns or Raanjhana have proven to be audience and critic’s darling. Going by the movie collections and reports of Shahrukh’s films, he is n’t the superstar he use to be in 90’s and 2000’s. His contemporaries Salman and Aamir are creating mammoth blockbusters while Khan barely earned 150 crores with Raees.
On that note Jab Harry met Sejal could be called as disaster of the century as the film just stopped at about 70 crores and this kind of figure is unprecedented for a global superstar. Zero, as a film has a lot riding on itself as it could be final nail in the coffin of Khan’s career. By the look of it, one may say that it is a regular commercial masala film with the only uniqueness of Khan playing a dwarf. Katrina, Shahrukh and Anushka will be coming together after Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which was a loved film in it’s own estimation. Zero will release on Christmas 2018.
