Sammohanam movie review: Sudheer Babu and Aditi Hydari light up the magic

Sammohanam marks the debut of Aditi Rao Hydari in Telugu films but it won’t go down as well as the Tamil one. She got launched in Tamil cinema by none other than Mani Ratnam and this film does not stand on toe with his cinema. Sudheer Babu is an experienced actor but Aditi seemed far more understanding of character. She had to struggle with the language and it definitely did not come naturally to her but she managed alright. Quite a lot of her dialogues are in English and rightfully so because she won’t become an expert with just one film.

Sudheer plays a cartoonist in the film who does not like cinema as much because it has taken over his art form. He thinks of cinema as a very limiting art form while cartooning opens up the imagination. Not only discards movies but movie stars as well especially females because of the glamor world. He himself is very limiting in the understanding of film profession but most of the Telugu industry does not run on arts but commerce. Film stars are like models in moving imagery who could not act to save their life.

Sudheer’s character happens to somehow falls in love with a movie star played by Aditi Rao, who in a way changes his opinion about the breed. Due to some conflict Sudheer gets the impression that Aditi has broken his heart and he goes back to mincing the idea of dating a movie star. Film takes some turn towards the climax but it is already too late. At the very end of the day, it simply turned out to be a mediocre film about love and highly one dimensional characters. Overall people should not waste their time as they got only one life and utilize it in doing something exciting.
