Saab Bahadar, the Punjabi mystery thriller which released last Friday on the 26th of May has so far had a below average run at the box office. The star cast of the film includes Ammy Virk, Preet Kamal, Jaswinder Bhalla, Rana Ranbir, Seema Kaushal and Hobby Dhaliwal.
Saab Bahadar opened to Rs. 90 lakhs on Friday and Rs. 98 lakhs on Saturday Day 2. Taking the two day total of the film to Rs.1.88 crore. These figures obviously are way below the high expectations the film had generated, starring an actor of the calibre of Ammy Virk who is at the top of his game right now. The film is presented by Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu (who have earlier given us films like Jatt and Juliet, Sardarji and Punjab 1984) in association with Zee Studios. The plot of the film revolves around a police officer, Kuldeep Singh (referred to as Saab Bahadar) known for his crime solving sensibility who is set in the early 90’s in a remote village in Punjab. He reads a lot of mystery novels which he gets inspired by in performing his duties with great degrees of vigilance.
After a series of crimes in the otherwise peaceful village, Saab Bahadar is onto decoding the mystery behind repeated criminal activities.
Ramesh Bala, a trade analyst, tweeted about the film’s 3 day box office collection in the United States, which stands at a total of $ 140,000.

The film’s collections are a proof of the uncertainty looming at the box office. The producers of Saab Bahadar claimed that the film was an exciting blend of suspense, fear with comedy and romance seamlessly added in. Looks like the film has so far failed to strike a chord with the audience.
Even the music of the film composed by Jatinder Shah and written by Veet Baljit, was widely appreciated with Ammy Virk lending his voice to the songs.
We will have to wait and watch, to arrive at the final box office verdict for Saab Bahadar.
