Rangeela Rayabaa movie review: An entertaining romantic comedy

Rangeela Rayabaa is a romantic action comedy, Directed by Kedar Shinde and starring Alhad Andre and Radhika Muthukumar. It is the story of Rayaba, a boy who fails his twelfth grade exams, but then falls in love with a girl, Shraddha, who happens to be the daughter of a Health Quality Inspector. The movie begins and reaches its half way point as Rayaba tires and is successful in commanding the love of Shraddha, but complications arise when he goes to her father to ask for her hand in marriage. Shraddha’s father tells him that he will only agree to the marriage if Rayaba successfully passes his twelfth exams.

But here’s the catch, as Rayaba tries to study for the exam, Shraddha’s father creates many obstacles so as to keep him from excelling at it, and fail. His attempts also grow more dire and dangerous as the movie progresses.

The Marathi movie is very funny, as it takes the oldest trope of romantic movies, that of a hero tryin to win the confidence of his Girlfriend’s father and twists it in a way which looks and feels both heartfelt and entertaining. The performances from all the actors are great, and the dance numbers are stages beautifully. They are very vibrant to look at, and are accompanied with good music. All in all, this is a great time in the cinema.
