Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor is looking to go back to rom-com genre which made him the star in the first place and he might be doing it with Luv Ranjan. Luv Ranjan has recently delivered his career biggest hit as a director by the name of ‘Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety’, which became a 100 crore banking rage and made Kartik Aryan an A-lister. Ranbir has not had the best time at box office with his last film ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and will now be seen in Sanjay Dutt biopic by the name of ‘Sanju’ which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Ranbir is shooting for his 3 part epic Brahmastra and might start shooting with Luv Ranjan once he is done with that. Luv Ranjan does not have the credibility of Hirani and Kashyap but he sure is able to give entertaining time to audience as they line up outside the ticket counter. Luv talks about stuff that is faced by every other youth in this country in their personal lives but in a light funny way and hence his films become an outing spot for college gangs to go out on.
People go and see his films in the expectations of walking out light after it has ended and Ranbir could use some of that. So far, films of Luv have been very simple narrative that does not really challenge the actors to their toes while Ranbir is more used to extraordinary performances. There is nothing wrong in doing something simple once in a while if the actor can make it look effortless and it is good cinema. Someone like Aamir Khan continuously take on projects that are challenging one after the other and hence he is a legend but there is definitely a difference in totally selling out and trying to do light hearted cinema.
