Rajkumar Rao as Omar Sheikh in ‘Omerta’, trailer out on this day

Rajkumar Rao took to micro blogging website and shared his character looks as Omar Sheikh in ‘Omerta’. Raj mentioned that it was his toughest role by far of all the intensity he has delivered on silver screen. Omerta was screened in Toronto Film Festival in 2017 to much appreciation and since than makers are awaiting the release on Indian screens. Raj is playing a terrorist in the film and he has worked very hard for it to get the mental space of a despicable human being, who clearly had a very unusual life.

Trailer of the film will be out in two days and this is Raj’s fourth film collaboration with Hansal Mehta excluding a web series on Subhash Chandra Bose. They have been making phenomenal content driven film for past five years and have contributed tremendously to each other’s careers. They started their journey together with a biopic called ‘Shahid’ based upon a human rights lawyer Shahid Azmi and later went to make ‘Citylights’ which showcased a story of lower class man in the city of Mumbai that moves his struggle for survival into criminal activities.

In Aligarh Raj played a journalist who was defending the character of Manoj Bajpayee and did a wonderful job. They have not shot a film together post Omerta but Raj is having one of the greatest times of his career with films getting critical acclaim and box office as well. He was seen in Newton and it became India’s official entry to the Oscars while Bareilly Ki Barfi became one of the most talked about film of the year for it’s realistic comedic content largely unseen in Hindi cinema. Raj did the most unique story in ‘Trapped’, where a man gets locked in his apartment and can’t get out despite being in the middle of the city.
